Meet Busted Tees Model Lauren Sieczkowski

by on July 2, 2012

How long have you been modeling for Busted Tees?

About four to five years.

You must be the go to model. To build the gallery on this page, I searched for all the shirts that you modeled, and there was like 12,006 of them. Are you their favorite? You can brag a little.

Haha! Busted Tees has a lot of great go-to models. They tend to keep it fairly consistent and are loyal to the family of people that helped build their brand, which is one of the things I like about the company. If I AM going to brag, I will tell you that I was the one chosen to be in the BTs shoot for Omaha Steaks, for which I got to hang out with my friends, drink beer, eat hamburgers, and watch the sun set from a beautiful rooftop in Brooklyn. And got paid for it.

How did you get the gig with Busted Tees?

I was working in the art department with a company called College Humor, and we shared an office with Busted Tees and Vimeo. One of their designers suggested that I give it a shot and set me up with their photographer.

When did you start this video/film stuff?

I acted for many years as a kid, and have been working in film since I was in college (directing, producing, art directing..) Over the past few years I’ve really been trying to reexamine my place in front of the camera with my experience behind. How can I merge the two to create the work I really want to make/write/perform in?

Has anyone told you that jumping up and down on a mini trampoline, sucking a Popcicle, and singing is dangerous? You should wear a helmet next time.

We had approximately twenty popcicles on standby to alleviate the pain of any bruises incurred.

Seems like you get to work with a lot of different, creative people…how awesome is that?

Pretty awesome! Two of the photographers from Busted Tees actually became some of my closest friends and frequent collaborators.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

What do you do for fun?

I go see live music, go dancing, read, cook.. I’m also learning Spanish and just signed up for aerialist and circus classes!

Best movie you saw recently?

You’re going to laugh after my last answer. I recently watched a documentary called ‘Circo’ about a Mexican family who operates a traveling circus. It’s a beautiful, heartbreaking story about the struggle to fulfill your passions as well as your home/family/life obligations.

Band you must absolutely see in person?

The Flaming Lips

Most embarassing song on your iPod?

I definitely have a large amount of embarrassing old pop punk.

Where do you live?

Where are you from originally?

I was born in New York, but grew up in northern New Jersey.

Brothers? Sisters?

Do you get noticed as the Busted Tees model?

A few times

Favorite Busted Tees shirt?

Honestly, most of the time I don’t even know what the shirts mean. I’m not up to date enough on my internet memes! But I did like the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce T-shit referencing Mad Men.

What’s the deal with College Humor and Busted Tees? Are they sibling companies? Do you work with College Humor also?

The two used to be owned by the same parent company. I do still work for College Humor from time to time, usually as assistant director and actor.

Do you have a significant other (if this was a face-to-face interview, that would have been asked with a creepy voice with my eyebrow half raised)?

Oui! (He’s French.)

This is an email interview so I have no idea how you answered the last question, but, theoretically, how interested, on a scale from 1 (not very) to 10 (very) would you be into a 41-year-old dude with greasy hair and a mustache, who lives in his mother’s basement, and has a very powerful love of tuna fish on pumpernickel? I’m talking romantically of course.

brb, canceling my trip to France.

How often do you Google yourself?

It’s been a while!

Is the world going to end this year?

Any of us could expire at any time, so we should live like it will.

Lauren Sieczkowski Dossier

Director, Producer, Actor

After extensive research, it looks like Busted Tees model Lauren Sieczkowski is a video director, producer, and performer doing work with the likes of incredible band, TV on the Radio, College Humor, Anthropologie, Etsy, etc.

Check out her work on her site and on her Vimeo channel. Hell, she’s even got a IMDB page. She’s creative and gots serious skillz. I highly recommend checking out her Independent projects on her site because she stars in a lot of them and she, of course, looks great, just like she does in funny t shirts. For example, nothing like short shorts and a Popsicle:

Sieczkowski co-directed and starred in a experimental short film/music video for the song Old Friend by Caveman, which premiered on IFC. It stars Peter Saarsgard as the creepy phone voice. Can’t remember the last time I was scared watching a music video, except when I feared for the plight of humanity while watching System of a Down go from speed metal to whiny boy band in the same song. But, that’s old news. Here is possible redemption:

Here are some stills from that performance:

Don’t forget to RSS her Tumblr. And follow her on Twitter.  Got business to discuss with Ms. Sieczkowski, hit her up on LinkedIn. And, maybe, just maybe she’ll accept a friend request on Facebook.

I love it when shirt models have super interesting lives outside of modeling and Lauren does not disappoint. She’s doing very fascinating film/video work. But, of course, she’s also is a great model. Here’s a beautiful image of her by professional photographer Michel Leroy. Here’s her model portfolio at Bella Agency.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that
“perfect balance” between superb usability and
visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a great job with
this. In addition, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
Excellent Blog!
