Thumb Wrestling Champ T Shirt

by on August 31, 2011

Hey when you bring a gun to a thumb wrestling championship it’s against the rules, except there are a few loopholes in the rules as you can imagine, since the Thumb Wrestling Federation probably wasn’t that thorough in their development of the rulebook, and they probably didn’t have an attorney specializing in sports comb through and add the requisite thou’s and thus’s and heretofore’s. I’ll even bet a dollar they didn’t have a professional proofreader go over it for grammar and consistency and all the things that spectacular proofers do that I don’t even know about. BTW, if you need a magnificent proofer I know the best. Let me know.

So the loophole that one wrestler discovered and used to win 15 straight National Championships is that you can use a handgun to shoot the thumb off of the opponent, and if your opponent does not have the thumb that he initially addressed you with, he can not go to the other thumb, thus he is disqualified.

The Federation finally closed that loophole in ’86 and the the thumb wars have been more even matches ever since. I’ve seen every championship since ’67 and I have to admit, I enjoyed Johnny Delboon’s run with the gun. It added a little spice to the proceedings. This is why I’m glad Headline Shirts has immortalized his tactic with this Thumb Wrestling Champ T Shirt.

I haven’t thought about Johnny Delboon in years. I remember in ’84 when Betty Blunderbuss tried to surprise him. She was still beat on the draw and her flint jammed anyway! Those were good times.
