Sports T Shirts

Sports T Shirts: The t-shirt design crowd is generally a snarky and unathletic bunch, so you get a lot of misdirection here, but there are some true sports fans pumping out cool tees remembering great games, franchises, and athletes.

This is a killer design from Nick Kohler, which is saying something when you grow up in a family famous, at least in the Midwest, for its bathroom fixtures. I guess on the higher end bathroom fixtures have a certain artistic element to them. There was this one time I was drunk and standing at a Kohler urinal…just kidding.

The Summer Olympics are sneaking up on us, so you need to make sure you have your Olympic gear in hand for opening ceremonies in London. I would say this is a perfect shirt to wear as you watch the magnificent athletes. And, of course, if you’re a Star Wars fan, I question your sanity if you haven’t already clicked away to get this Team Imperial 2012 T Shirt, which was designed by Seven Hundred.

Ah, nice shirt from the Loyalist Collection over at Busted Tees. There will never be a better team than the Dream Team that represented the United States in the 1992 Olympics. Incredible amount of talent, including Michael Jordan in his prime, Charles Barkley, Magic and Bird finishing up their careers, and a very effective Patrick Ewing.

Get this Derrick Rose T Shirt because he’s the pride of the South Side (of Chicago) and you’re from there. Or you’re a Bulls fan. Or you’re a Memphis alumni and he nearly brought the school a national title.

Nice work with the Kill Bill jump suit and sword and the 8-bit pixelly look. Of course, the word kung fu makes me laugh no matter what. I think it’s the way the word looks on screen and the way my tongue moves when I say it. Or something. Maybe it’s the chop chop movies where the baddest asses have strong kung fu that makes me smile with their dubbed voices and cartoon punch noises.

I like how this design is executed by Busted Tees with the army green and black I Declare a Thumb War T Shirt lettering. Looks good. Looks military like, but still has the cute and clever edge of talking about a really goofy little physical combat. Although, I imagine there are Thumb War Associations that take it super seriously and have names for different thumb moves, and special gear for your wrists, and probably a good deal of bickering over the official rules, and most likely trouble sustaining the Thumb War Association headquarters with membership dues.

I really like this simple design from Hello Fresco. Not sure about the technique of the yo yoer, but having the words Yo Yo at the end of the string is awesome. It’s wordplay. Imageplay. And it’s a greeting to the best of your friends. They’ll know what’s up when you’re wearing this tee.

Wil Wheaton’s character on Star Trek was Wesley Crusher, so now Sheldon made his bowling team bowling shirts with this design on them. Pretty sweet though it doesn’t make any sense to Penny.

Kangaroo versus man in a fight to the death. Those damn crazy Australians know how to be entertained. That particular kangaroo may look cute, but she’s killed 47 men in little over nine months. Not many dudes are willing to get in the ring with her, which is why they’re forcing convicts to fight.

I suggest any time you really crave a random Elephant T Shirt that you first visit Winky Boo, because they have it. What you have here is a pink elephant on a green skateboard carrying a serious looking paintball gun, shooting at one of those shooting range targets and splattering green and pink paint blotches all over the place. Um, that’s certainly random and weird, but it’s done just right, so that it’s cute and endearing as well.

This is obviously a hockey shirt, judging from the puck. There’s a clue about when this team earned the title of world champs in the form of ’74-’75. I’m guessing that means the 1974-75 season, because I’m an educated guesser deluxe. Now, I’m going to do a little research about which team this was.

If you’re a North Carolina Tar Heels fan, then you’re going to know what this Answer the Bell T Shirt means, and it’s going to make you come close to tears, because that Tar Heel tradition is pretty deep, especially when it comes to mens basketball. It starts with Frank McGuire, Dean Smith and Roy Williams is carrying the torch in a worthy manner now. And the names of players that have gone through there.
