Why am I not remembering this part of the movie? I’ve seen the film numerous times because it’s a god damned masterpiece from the Cohen Brothers. Jeff Bridges and John Goodman are masterful. Anyway, it looks like I’m going to have to do like 17 seconds of Internet research to figure out what this Kaoru Betto T Shirt references. Okay, just as I suspected…the Dude wore this tshirt during the movie. Of course, I only remember the v-neck and the wool cardigan, but I’m old and prone to huff shit in paper bags that I’m not supposed to, so my memory can’t be relied on. I’m sure I can find a clip on Youtube to prove it, but it might take another 27 seconds.
Celebrate one of the greatest movies of all time that happens to be a comedy. The Coen Brothers pretty much knock it out of the park every time, but this one broke the windshield of the Mercedes Benz owned by an asshole. It was that good. You know Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, Sam Elliott, and the rest of the magnificent cast killed it. Joel and Ethan Coen squeezed out every last ounce of acting brilliance from all of them. The script was tight as the tightest thing you can imagine. And, that closing line from The Dude is one for the ages, which is why you need to make sure you have a shirt to commemorate it.
The Dude abides. Sometimes it is the simple reminders that are the most powerful and effective. Sometimes from the mouths of comic actors and the pens of writers of comedy, you get the wisdom of life. The knowledge. The code and the creed.
