South Detroit to Anywhere Train Ticket T Shirt

by on October 12, 2011

Apparently some bad shit has gone down in South Detroit, and people want to get out of town. So much so that a major t-shirt company took it upon themselves to design this South Detroit to Anywhere Train Ticket T Shirt, assuming that it would sell at a decent clip. Of course, I also here that there are artistic movements, urban gardening movements, and all kinds of other cool stuff going on in Detroit. A veritable grassroots renaissance fueled by exceptionally cheap property or available lots where the bulldozers have cleared decrepit foreclosed homes. I’m rooting for that organic growth.

Oh wait, that’s North, West and East Detroit. South Detroit is where they live off raccoons and squirrels and anything they can steal from their gramma and pawn. You definitely want to track the midnight train out of there.

But, I’m also kind of laughing at this tee from Busted Tees, because there are those that just want to get out at any cost to anywhere.

I realize this is an old posting, so maybe you’ve discovered this in the time since, but this tshirt has nothing to do with modern Detroit. It’s a reference to the song Don’t Stop Believen’ by Journey. (The one song almost guaranteed to play every damn weekend in too many bars no matter what city you are in… not a bad song, but suffers from this fate.)

@sps – thanks for the kind clarification on this. It’s much appreciated!
