My God Designs: Cool Jesus Wants to Save Your Soul

by on December 3, 2010

I’m thrown for a loop by My God Designs Jesus series. I’m not sure what to make of it. I’m sure this site has its fans, because I know there is a lot of Christians out there that like to push the envelope and be a little  edgy. And, these shirts with Jesus doing things like your favorite bro would do is edgy. It takes the Son of  God out of the robes and sandals and teacher role, and puts him in everyday sportsman or gamer. Not sure how  this works. I guess maybe you’re modernizing the Christ, making him relate-able. Someone that you can play Call  of Duty with and who will also save you from your sins for real.

Actually, I’m totally confused by Jesus in general. 100% man and 100% God and he had to die to save everyone,  including future generations from their sins. Then you have to invite him into your heart so you can be saved  and have everlasting life. That’s confusing. And, now, making him look like Johnny Damon with ripped abs in  board shorts, he’s more relate-able. Like maybe now you can invite him over (into your heart) with more ease.  It’s more comfortable.

I don’t know. I’m sure there are some conservative Christians that absolutely hate this stuff, because it’s sacriligious. Those are the same people that fought against a rock band doing the Sunday morning music, and that think you can’t interpret the Bible any other way, than the way the learned in their religious upbringing.

Anyways, anybody that knows me knows that I love funny Jesus T Shirts, and these are kind of funny, plus they make you think. Here’s a sampling of the Jesus T Shirt selection they have over there.

My God Rides a Skateboard T Shirt

Jesus can do an ollie.

My God For Heisman T Shirt

Jesus never used up his eligibility in Galilee.

My God is a Gamer T Shirt

You can beat Jesus easy in video games. He can never get himself to kill.

My God Never Taps Out T Shirt

Feels like Jesus in MMA would be sort of unfair. Like he could do some God stuff any time he wanted and nobody would have a chance.

My God Rides a Surfboard T Shirt

It’s about time someone challenged Kelly Slater.

I’m much more comfortable with these Jesuses than the My God Runs for Senator in Florida version that we seem to see a lot of, ‘cuz I believe in the separation of church and state.

Excellent question…the answer to which will probably rip the universe asunder.

Ask a (Protestant) pastor/minister, not your average Christian; unfortunately they are not generally good at communicating the major theological tenets of the faith. Jesus had a divine soul that was given a fleshy human body, that is how he is 100% of both. He saved the world by being the perfect atoning sacrifice; you see, in the Old Testament, Israelites had to deny themselves by sacrificing something innocent, the best animals of their flock to atone for their sins. But those were only temporary; Jesus did was we couldn’t because he was perfect, thus he was a blemishless sacrifice that made eternal atonement for the sins of all humanity. If you believe in him and love him, you will be a part of the future resurrection. Loving him means you follow his commands and invite others to have a relationship with him; the church is the “bride of Christ” and that’s why we follow his commands, in order to keep ourselves pure for him. Any Christian who tells you, “if you’re good you go to heaven, if you’re bad, you go to hell,” does not know what (s)he is talking about. That’s religion, not Christianity. Religion tells you how you can work your way into heaven, whereas Christianity tells you that there is nothing you can do to get there, rather you receive eternal life because of the deliverance of God that was manifested in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross; we didn’t earn it, it was an act of love. God gives us the option of choosing how to be judged: on his terms (automatic forgiveness through Christ by believing in him and following him) or on your terms (all of the good deeds you do cannot make up for all of the times you have rejected God and chosen to be the center of your own life – which is actually deifying yourself in your mind). Salvation in Christ is a free gift. It is out there, ready to be accepted at any time. All you have to do is ask God to lead you to a better life, recognize how sinful we are on our own without His guidance, and sincerely try to live better – under His guidance.
Email me if you would like more information on the faith, and don’t worry, I’m not some religious nut who thinks there should be Christianity in schools or the Ten Commandments in courthouses. We have a separation of church and state for a reason, and the government has no right to advocate a single faith – it is our choice what we wish to believe. Great article, God bless you :)

hi people! What is Jesus loved you more than except for God the Father and God the Holy Spirit? What if he commanded us to love and honor our mother and father? What if he gave His beloved Mother to us before dying on the cross?

Well, that would make her our mother. Then shouldn’t we love and honor her as well? This is May, the month of Mary. Pray the Rosary with your family in honor of our Blessed Mother!
