Da Vinci Vitruvian Rock Man T Shirt

by on December 2, 2010

This has to be one of Headline Shirts most popular shirts ever. It’s simply brilliant. You have the send up of Da Vinci’s Vitruvian man, which is not totally novel on the Internet, as you can see on this artist’s site that has a lot of different variations on the theme. But, the fact, that on their Da Vinci Vitruvian Rock Man T Shirt they capture a seminal rock ‘n roll pose…the ultimate Pete Townsend guitar god strum, makes this particular variation on the classic illustration of a man particularly appealing.

BTW – Do you know what the original drawing was all about? The proportions of man as espoused by Roman architect Vitruvius. His deal was that the proportions of man was a strong guide for developing proportions in architecture. Fascinating. Not sure if it still holds water today, but it is an interesting concept. Interesting, enough that Leonardo da Vinci took it up and rocked out with the Canon of Proportions or the Proportions of Man.

After this rock ‘n roll version, I think the next great version is going to be the Vitruvian Woman. That might be pretty hot.
