Non story. Wake me up when the President starts throwing bankers in jail.

From Fire Dog Lake:

“At a dinner ceremony honoring the holiday of Ramadan, President Obama waded into the controversy over the Cordoba House project, strongly and unequivocally supporting  the construction of the Islamic Center near Ground Zero in Manhattan. Not only that, he supported the proposition of allowing Muslims to build their own houses of worship anywhere in America, as part of the free exercise of religion.”

Classic scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The rabble has found themselves a nubile, young, pretty girl (should have been a shirt model) and decided she was a witch, but Sir Arthur stops them from burning her, until they’ve applied science and reason to the proceedings. Back in the day this was pretty sophisticated thinking comparing a human to wood and ducks and floating. The ended up determining she was a witch, but at least she got a fair shake.

So the TV show, Community, is about Greendale Community College and they created a new mascot: the Human Being. Saves money on costume. Hell, it’s a community college, why wouldn’t you do something like this. It’s funny. And, plus, humans can be pretty kick ass if they want to be. There’s a reason they’re on top of the food chain. Forget Tigers, Bears, Horned Frogs and Banana Slugs. And god forbid you’re the Devils…Geez, what kind of message is that. Let’s bring it down to a real level. A human level. And connect as people…as human beings.

You have to check out The Ballad of Steven Slater, our hero JetBlue flight attendant, who quit in mighty style.

Some memorable lyrics to go with a nicely done acoustic guitar tune and a good voice:

Hey. Have you seen Scott Pilgrim vs. The World yet? Are you going to see it on opening day? What’s going on out there? Looks like Betsey Sharkey, an Los Angeles Time Film Critic, has seen it. Here’s what she has to say (I think she liked it overall):

Never seen the show Arrested Development but apparently Bob Loblaw is some kind of character played by Tony Danza Scott Baio. If you time machined from a time when Danza Baio was staring in shitty TV back in the day, you probably would be a little confused that he’s still going strong…on a critically-acclaimed show no less. Good for Tony Scott. Look I don’t feel good about that last sentence Tony’s Scott’s career deserved a little Wikipedia research. TV show Taxi (1978-1983) and Who’s the Boss (1984-1992). He also had his own show for awhile (1997), proving that he’s a great supporting character and should not be The Man. Chachi on Happy Days. Some TV movies. Joanie Loves Chachi. And a nice run on Charles in Charge (1984-1990). Anyways, dude still looks great at 59 50 so he’s a winner.

Hey. Check it out, you can listen to the whole Scott Pilgrim VS. The World soundtrack at

The album is full of great songs and sprinkled with some uneasy listeners, but overall it’s good. Not a big fan of Plumtree, which happens to play a big part in Michael Cera’s wardrobe for the movie. Frank Black should never play music without his The Pixies buddies. Black Lips are wicked. Broken Social Scene wrote  a couple of short selections for Crash and the Boys and has one ditty of their own on this collection. Beck’s song Ramona is sort of boring, but I bet it works perfect in it’s intended place…enhancing a montage of Pilgrim pining for Ramona, meeting Ramona, sexy timing Ramona, getting pissed at Ramona, fighting Ramona’s exes, getting pissed at Ramona, and finally sexy timing Ramona again…this is just a guess. I didn’t go to a pre-screening.

Hey you heard the story. You cheered the man who busted the customer is always right myth, plus went totally styley after getting clocked in the face by obnoxious, passenger bitch woman. He made his farewell speech over the intercom, grabbed two beers, checked outside to see if anyone was under the emergency slide exit (the story his lawyer is floating), and slid to freedom double fisting and fabulous.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White are the only reasons that Wheel of Fortune is still on the air. I mean the names themselves, not the personalities, not the remarkable slow aging. I’m talking about the names: Pat Sajak and Vanna White. Are you kidding me? Those are the best names in television history. Who made those up. Should have multiple Emmies for made up game show host and hostess names.

Yeah, right there is Michael Cera and he’s wearing this ringer tee, and guess what, you can wear it too. You won’t look as good as Cera in it, but nobody can. It’s no big thing. No shame. Just go ahead and get it. You’ll still be pretty cool
